About this unit
Livestock, poultry and fish give food, income and work power to millions of Indian farm families. This unit covers why livestock matters, the important breeds, housing and feeding, care of animals at different stages, common diseases, artificial insemination, milk and milk products, and fisheries. Many questions here are fact-based: breed names, disease causes and symptoms, temperatures for pasteurisation, and so on.
How to prepare
Make breed tables by species with purpose (milch, draught, dual) and home state. Make a disease table with cause (virus, bacterium, protozoan), species and key symptom. Learn milk composition and pasteurisation temperatures. For fisheries, learn the feeding zones of the six carps used in composite fish culture.
