Supporting details
Locating facts, examples and details that support the main idea.
What supporting details are
Supporting details are the facts, examples, figures, reasons and descriptions that back up the main idea. Questions ask you to locate them: who did what, how many, when, why.
How to answer
- Find the key word from the question in the passage, then read the sentences around it.
- Make sure the option matches the passage exactly. A changed number or a reversed cause makes the option wrong.
Trap
Options often repeat words from the passage but join them in a way the passage does not.
