Match the following
Matching words with meanings, words with usages, or items from two related lists.
What the question looks like
Two lists are given (List I and List II). You match each item in the first list with the right item in the second: words with meanings, words with opposites, phrases with uses, writers with works, or similar pairs.
How to solve it
- Start with the pair you are surest of. Then eliminate every option that does not contain that pair.
- Look for a second certain pair. Usually two certain pairs leave only one possible option.
- Do not try to match all four before looking at the options; it wastes time.
Common mistakes
- Changing a correct pair because one other pair looks uncertain.
- Not noticing that the lists are about opposites rather than meanings.
