Choosing the correct word
Filling blanks with the grammatically and contextually correct word, form or spelling in Konkani.
What the question looks like
A sentence has a blank, or a word is underlined, and you must choose the word or form that is grammatically and contextually correct. Options may differ in meaning, in grammatical form (tense, number, gender, case) or in spelling.
How to solve it
- Read the whole sentence first. The words around the blank decide the answer.
- Check grammar: does the word agree with its subject in number and gender? Is the tense consistent with the rest of the sentence?
- Check meaning: many options are grammatically possible but only one makes sense.
- Check collocation: some words naturally go together in Konkani. The option that “sounds right” to a regular reader is often correct.
- Check spelling: if options look almost the same, the question is testing correct spelling.
Common mistakes
- Choosing a word with the right meaning but the wrong form.
- Choosing a fancy word that does not suit the sentence.
