About this unit
This unit asks how education in India has developed, from the ancient gurukula and universities such as Nalanda to today’s schools and regulators. Expect questions on famous centres of learning, the bodies that run and regulate education, landmark committees and commissions, and what the Constitution says about education.
How to prepare
Make a one-page timeline from Wood’s Despatch (1854) to NEP 2020, and a table of bodies (UGC, NCTE, NCERT, AICTE, NAAC) with what each one does.
