Learners differ
Learners differ in pace, prior knowledge and preferred ways of taking in information. Models such as VARK (visual, auditory, reading/writing, kinaesthetic) describe preferences, but research suggests all learners benefit from varied methods. The practical lesson for teachers is to use multiple modes (pictures, talk, text and activity) and to differentiate tasks for different levels.
