What is NCET?

The entrance test for the 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme.

Academic year 2026–27

The National Common Entrance Test (NCET) is the entrance exam for admission to the 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP). It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

ITEP is a dual-major degree introduced under the National Education Policy 2020. You study a discipline such as Physics or History together with education, and graduate ready to teach at a chosen school stage.

Who conducts it?

NTA conducts the test and publishes notices, admit cards, answer keys and results on its NCET page. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) regulates the ITEP programme.

How admission works

After the result, each participating institution runs its own admission process using NCET scores. There is no single central counselling, so apply to every institution you are interested in.
